August: Temperatures cool slightly, averaging 50-70°F (10-21°C). Expect more rain than in June or July, but also some of the best fishing of the season, particularly for silver salmon. Layering is key to staying comfortable. September: Cooler days range from 45-65°F (7-18°C), with crisp mornings and colorful fall foliage. Rain becomes more frequent, but the crowds thin out, making it a great time for those seeking a quieter Alaskan experience. Do you offer photography tips or services for capturing Alaskan wildlife and landscapes? While we don’t offer dedicated photography services, Alaska is a dream destination for photographers, and our scenic tours provide incredible opportunities to capture the raw beauty of the Last Frontier. Whether you’re shooting epic landscapes, wildlife in action, or the thrill of the catch, here are some tips to make the most of your photography adventure: Best Photography Spots & Subjects: Kenai River & Glacier Blue Street: Capture stunning reflections of the water, vibrant summer greens, and misty morning sunrises. Wildlife: Keep an eye out for bald eagles, moose, bears, and sea otters. A telephoto lens (300mm or higher) is recommended for capturing animals from a safe distance. Ocean & Coastal Views: Our wildlife charters offer prime opportunities to photograph whales, puffins, and rugged Alaskan coastline. Golden Hour Magic: Summer in Alaska offers extended golden hours—mornings (4-6 AM) and evenings (8-11 PM in June & July). This soft, warm light is perfect for breathtaking landscape shots. Photography Tips for Your Trip: Bring the Right Gear: A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a wide-angle lens (for landscapes) and a telephoto lens (for wildlife) is ideal. If using a phone, try a clip-on zoom lens for extra reach. Use a Polarizing Filter: Helps reduce glare from water and enhances the deep blues of the sky and greens of the landscape. Keep Your Camera Weatherproofed: Rain showers can pop up anytime—having a rain cover for your camera and a microfiber cloth will keep your shots crisp. Shoot in RAW: If your camera allows, RAW format preserves details for post-processing and adjusting exposure. Steady Your Shot: If you’re on a boat, use a higher shutter speed (1/500 or faster) to capture sharp images of moving wildlife and waves. For those looking to capture Alaska from the air, we highly recommend a fly-out scenic tour, where you can photograph glaciers, mountains, and remote wildlife from a breathtaking aerial perspective. Whether you're a seasoned photographer or just looking to capture memories, Alaska’s wild landscapes and abundant wildlife provide endless inspiration—just don’t forget to look up from the lens and soak it all in!
