Community Minded

At Alaska Kenai Adventures, we believe that building a thriving community starts with giving back. This belief stems from the deep roots our founder, Keith Johansen, has in the Alaskan wilderness and his strong commitment to making a difference. Keith’s dedication to service, both during his six years in the Air Force Reserves and in his career, has instilled a drive to build stronger communities in Alaska and support community organizations—especially through the transformative power of nature and connection.

Whether it’s supporting local organizations in Soldotna, donating veteran fishing retreats, partnering with Kenai nonprofits, or creating unforgettable experiences for those in need, Alaska Kenai Adventures is proud to play a role in strengthening our community. Below, you’ll find some of the incredible organizations we’ve had the honor of supporting.

Salmon for Soldiers

  • Mission: Salmon for Soldiers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting veterans with the healing power of fishing. Since 2013, they have served over 7,000 veterans, providing them with opportunities to relax, connect, and find peace through tailored fishing experiences. These events help veterans facing challenges such as PTSD, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and physical disabilities.

  • Our Support: In partnership with the Salmon for Soldiers program, Alaska Kenai Adventures hosts an all-inclusive retreat on the Kenai River. This retreat allows veterans to enjoy guided fishing, breathtaking Alaskan views, and a chance to recharge in nature.

  • Why It Matters: “The Kenai River isn’t just a fishing destination—it’s a place of healing,” says Keith Johansen. “We are proud to support veterans by offering this unique opportunity to connect with nature and each other.”
